Not My Bucket List

It’s been six years since the movie The Bucket List was released. Talking about ‘bucket lists’ is much more popular since then, and in fact, there are a bunch of Tumblr accounts dedicated to bucket lists. I don’t have a list per se, but I do have a mental note of places I want to go and experiences that I want to have. Recently, I thought, there are things I don’t want to possess. Wouldn’t it be nice if I never, ever second guessed myself based on what I believe someone thinks of me? Or, wouldn’t it be nice if I was exuberant and happy and still appeared to be in control and in charge. So, I decided to create a Chuck It list instead of a bucket list. I figure I can work on my Chuck It list any day or any time and I don’t need a budget. And it makes me feel good.

Here are my top ten things I want to quit.bucket list

My Chuck It List:

  1. Losing sleep about what other people think of me (no one belongs in my bed but my husband, my dogs and me)
  2. Not being myself to “appear” under control and in charge (curbing my exuberance to be more likable (I think) is not the same as “flexing” my style)
  3. Not speaking up for myself and being too accommodating (That says it all)
  4. Keeping score (I don’t need to get points for doing things for others. I can do them because I want to or enjoy doing it)
  5. Not committing to my value (I give away too much consultation time. I am creating better boundaries here)
  6. Not asking for what I want (If you don’t ask for it, you may never get it, right?)
  7. Wearing tight jeans (Oh my gosh, I hate tight jeans)
  8. Not taking time for a daily walk (Why not do something that I absolutely love?)
  9. Reliving past moments wishing I could have said or did something cleverer or smarter (I am a nice person who isn’t very quick-tongued. I am not sorry for that)
  10. Not working and playing to my strengths (Why not work when it comes easy rather than struggle with what doesn’t come naturally?)

I want you to create a Chuck It list and send it to me. Take some time; savor the creation of what you want to throw out of your life. Post it here or go over to my Facebook page and post it over there.

Hugs!
